A/Prof Christian Freudlsperger is a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon dedicated to providing advanced, evidence-based care with a strong focus on personalised treatment and excellent patient outcomes. He is Clinical Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Te Toka Tumai Auckland and holds an Honorary Associate Professorship at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Dual registered with the Medical and Dental Councils of New Zealand, he brings more than 20 years of international clinical and academic experience to his practice.

Specialist Training
A/Prof Freudlsperger completed his specialist training at the University Hospitals of Tübingen and Heidelberg and undertook an 18-month fellowship with the Head and Neck Surgery Branch at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA. He qualified as a Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2012 and became a Fellow of the European Board of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery in 2018. Before relocating to New Zealand, he served as Deputy Medical Director at University Hospital Heidelberg, one of Europe’s leading Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery centres.
His clinical practice spans the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including wisdom teeth and dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, temporomandibular joint surgery, skin cancer surgery, oral pathology, head and neck cancer, and reconstructive surgery.
He has particular expertise in orthognathic surgery, complex head and neck reconstruction, advanced implant rehabilitation and the restoration of oral function following tumour surgery. This includes care for patients with oral cancer, benign jaw lesions, osteoradionecrosis and compromised or previously irradiated bone. Modern CBCT imaging, three-dimensional virtual surgical planning and digital workflows are integrated where they can improve precision, safety and predictability.
Alongside his clinical work, A/Prof Freudlsperger remains actively involved in research, education and international collaboration. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, lectures internationally, and contributes to professional education and innovation through roles including Chair of the IBRA Research & Education Committee and membership of the SORG Oceania Group.
For patients, his priority is to restore function, health, confidence and quality of life. For dentists, GPs and specialist colleagues, he provides collaborative care, clear treatment recommendations and timely communication throughout the patient journey.
